Choosing the right videographer for your architecture or interior construction project

You've decided to use video for your firm. Great choice. Now comes the next question: who do you have do it? Not every videographer is suited to high-end architecture and interior work. In this article, you'll learn what to look for.

1. Look for a specialist, not a generalist

Filming a wedding is very different from capturing an office project by an interior architect. The best videographer for your work has demonstrable experience in the architecture or interior design industry. Look at their portfolio: is the style and feel comparable to what you're going for? Do the visuals feel high-end?

2. Check whether they're also drone-certified

Aerial footage gives architecture projects context that ground shots can't match. But not everyone is legally allowed to fly a drone. Ask explicitly whether the videographer is a certified drone operator.

3. Look beyond the video itself

A beautiful video that no one can find has little value. The best video producers think along with you about distribution: how and where will you use the video? On your website, LinkedIn, Instagram? Will the video be cut down for Reels or Stories? Is there a plan for the coming months?

In a first conversation, always ask: 'What's your vision for how we'll use this video?' If the answer is purely about technical specs, you might be missing the strategic piece.

4. Pay attention to communication and reliability

Film productions depend on weather conditions, site availability, and the rhythm of a construction project. You want a videographer who's flexible, communicates quickly, and keeps their word. Read reviews, ask for references, and gauge how fast someone responds to your first message.

5. Think long term

The best collaborations happen when a videographer gets to know your style, your clients, and your way of working. That takes time. A one-off project delivers a result; a lasting partnership builds a recognizable visual identity that strengthens your brand.

That's why Eigen Bodem prefers long-term relationships with clients: one dedicated partner supporting your firm with content and strategy all year round.
