You have decided to use video for your agency. Great choice. Now comes the next question: who should you hire? Not every videographer is suitable for high-end architecture and interior work. In this article, you will read what to look out for.
1. Find a specialist, not a generalist
Filming a wedding is very different from capturing an interior architect's office project. The best videographer for your work has demonstrable experience in the architecture or interior design industry. Look at the portfolio: are the style and look comparable to what you are aiming for? Do the images feel high-end?
2. Check if he or she is also drone-certified
Aerial footage provides architectural projects with a context that ground shots lack. However, not just anyone is allowed to fly a drone. Explicitly ask if the videographer is certified as a drone operator.
3. Look beyond the video
A beautiful video that cannot be found anywhere has little value. The best video producers think along about distribution: how and where will you use the video? On your website, LinkedIn, Instagram? Will the video be shortened for Reels or Stories? Is there a plan for the coming months?
During an initial meeting, always ask: 'What is your vision on how we should use this video?' If the answer focuses solely on technical specifications, you might miss the strategic component.
4. Pay attention to communication and reliability
Film productions depend on weather conditions, location availability, and the rhythm of a construction project. You want a videographer who is flexible, communicates quickly, and keeps their promises. Read reviews, ask for references, and assess how quickly someone responds to your first message.
5. Think about the long term
The best collaboration arises when a videographer gets to know your style, your clients, and your way of working. That takes time. A one-off project yields a result; a long-term partnership creates a recognizable visual identity that strengthens your brand.
Eigen Bodem therefore prefers to work with clients on a long-term basis: one fixed partner who continuously supports your agency with content and strategy throughout the year.
